As a higher education institution with an unwavering commitment to the protection of academic freedom—including the free exchange of ideas, collaborative research, and the cross-border movement of students and scholars—we followed the developments at Harvard University with anguish and deep concern. In line with our commitment to “Practical Wisdom for Freedom,” as articulated in the Hosei University Charter, and our dedication to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for learning and research, we are proud to stand in solidarity with the international effort to provide alternative opportunities for students and scholars whose academic pursuits were abruptly disrupted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s sudden suspension of international programs.
本学は、高等教育機関として、学問の自由(自由な意見交換、共同研究、学生や研究者の国境を越えた往来など)の保護に対する揺るぎない責任と使命を掲げており、ハーバード大学における留学生受け入れに関するプログラムの停止措置等の急激な政策変更などについて、深い懸念と痛みをもって注視してまいりました。
法政大学憲章に掲げられた「自由を生き抜く実践知」の理念、そして学びと研究の場における多様性・公平性・包摂性の実現に向けた本学の姿勢に基づき、米国国土安全保障省による国際プログラムの突然の停止により、学問の機会を断たれた学生や研究者に代替的な機会を提供しようとする国際的な連帯の取り組みに参画できることを誇りに思っています。
