卒業生有志の皆さん

多くの人にとって、大学で過ごす時間はわずか4年間かもしれません。でも、そこで育まれるつながり――友人や先輩・後輩、先生方や職員の方々、そしてもちろんキャンパスそのものとのつながり――は、一生続くものになり得ます。先日、2010年代の卒業生から、なんと1980年代に卒業された方まで、幅広い世代の法政大学の卒業生の皆さんと、とても活気のあるミーティングと意見交換をする中で、そのことを改めて実感しました。

年齢の違いはほとんど感じられませんでした。議論全体を通して、在学生と卒業生をつなぎ、さらに卒業生同士もつなぐ、起業に関するヒントを共有したり、キャリア支援を行ったり、あるいは単純につながり続けたりできるコミュニティをつくりたいという、共通の熱意があったからです。短い時間の中でも、法政らしい精神や特色をどのようによりよく伝え、形にしていくかについて、本当にたくさんのアイデアが交わされました。その根底には、法政への強い帰属意識と、その思いをさらに深め、より多くの人に広げていきたいという願いがありました。私たちは、明らかに同じ方向を向いているのだと感じました。

卒業生の皆さんに、心から感謝しています。そのエネルギーと熱意は、世代を超えたつながりを築いていくことが、私の仕事にとってなぜこれほど大切なのかを改めて思い出させてくれました。

Most people spend only four years at a university, but the connections fostered there—with peers, seniors and juniors, professors and staff, and yes, with the campus itself—can last a lifetime. I was reminded of this once again through a very lively meeting and discussion with several Hosei alumni, whose graduation years ranged from the 2010s all the way back to the 1980s!

The age differences were hardly apparent, because running through the entire discussion was a shared passion for creating a community that connects current students with alumni, and alumni with one another—to exchange start-up tips, provide career support, or simply stay connected. Even in a very short time, so many ideas were shared about how to better convey and bring to life the unique spirit and character of Hosei. Deep down, there was a strong sense of belonging to Hosei, and an equally strong desire to deepen that feeling and extend it to more people. We are clearly on the same page.

I am very grateful to these alumni, whose energy and commitment remind me why building bridges across generations is such an important part of my work.
