後援会賞授賞式・お祝いの会に出席された皆さん

約2時間半の会でしたが、会話は途切れることなく続きました。一見すると実にさまざまな立場の方々が集まった会でしたが、そこには、学生を支えたいという共通の思いから生まれる、不思議な一体感があったように感じました。

「子どもの母校は我が母校」というスローガンのもと、法政大学後援会は学生支援から大学設備の充実まで、さまざまな形で大学を支えてくださっています。後援会賞は、国家公務員採用総合職試験、難関国家資格試験に合格した学生や、スポーツや国際交流などの分野で活躍した学生を表彰するものです。

この日は、受賞者の親御さんも何名か出席されていました。また、遠方から後援会支部長の方々もいらっしゃり、お子さんが卒業された後に参加できる後援会クラブの幹部の方々の姿もありました。大学・付属校からは、役員、学部長、事務部長、中高の校長、PTA幹部などが参加しました。もちろん、応援団の皆さんも力強いエールを送ってくださいました。

こうしてみると、実に多彩な顔ぶれです。しかし、皆が「学生が大学生活を最大限に生かせるように」という思いでつながっている、一つのチームでもあります。大学としても、教育機会の充実や学生への精神的・経済的な支援に努めていますが、それだけで十分というわけではありません。今日ここに集まってくださった皆さんの支えがあってこそ、学生たちの成長を後押しする環境が成り立っているのだと思います。

私も保護者の方とお話しする機会がありました。お子さんのことを心配しながらも、その意思を尊重し、そばで見守ってこられた。その積み重ねが、今日の成果につながっているのだろうと感じました。

学生を育てるのは、大学だけでできることではありません。後援会をはじめ、今日出席された皆さんという「仲間」に、改めて感謝しています。

The gathering lasted about two and a half hours, and the conversations never seemed to stop. At first glance, it was a group made up of people from many different backgrounds and roles. Yet there was a certain sense of unity among us, born of a shared desire to support our students.

Under the slogan “Your child’s alma mater is our alma mater,” the Hosei University Supporters’ Association supports the university in many ways, from assisting students to helping improve university facilities. The Supporters’ Association Awards recognize students who have passed the national civil service examination for the comprehensive career track or highly competitive national certification examinations as well as students who have distinguished themselves in areas such as sports and international exchange.

Several parents of award recipients were also present. In addition, we were oined by branch heads of the Association came from far away prefectures and executive members of the Supporters’ Association Club, whose members are parents of graduates. From the university and affiliated schools, participants included members of the administration, deans, administrative directors, the principals of the junior and senior high schools, and PTA leaders. The cheer squad was also there, lending their energetic support. 

Looking around, it was truly a diverse gathering. Yet everyone present was connected by the shared goal of helping students make the most of their university lives. As a university, we strive to enhance the educational opportunities available to our students and to provide both emotional and financial support to them. But that alone is not enough. The environment that enables students to grow is sustained by the support of all those who gathered here that day.

I also had the chance to speak with the parents. While naturally concerned about their children, they had respected their children’s choices and watched over them with quiet support. Years of that steady support had led to the achievements we celebrated that day.

Supporting students’ development is not something a university can do on its own. I would like to once again express my gratitude to all those who attended—our partners in this shared effort—especially the members of the Supporters’ Association.
