「柳沢一子奨学金」の創設者　柳沢一子さま

柳沢一子様のご芳名を冠した奨学金の創設式を開催いたしました。感謝状の贈呈と記念撮影に続き、昼食を囲みながらお話をうかがう貴重な時間を持つことができました。

懇談では、柳沢様が言語聴覚士として、ことばの問題があると考えられる幼い子どもたちとその保護者に向き合ってこられたご経験についてお話しくださいました。ことばの問題は原因が一つではなく、ほかの課題と重なり合っていることも多いこと、また、実際にどのような課題があるのかを特定するための具体的な取り組みについてご説明くださいました。

また、保護者とともに歩むことの大切さと難しさについても印象的でした。保護者の期待に応えることだけに終始していては、長期的な成果にはつながらないこと。子どもと家族を支えること、そして保護者が子どもを支えていくことは、いずれも時間をかけた継続的な取り組みであることを語られました。その言葉からは、専門家としての確かな姿勢と、子どもたちや保護者への深い思いが伝わってきました。

こうした姿勢は、本学の学生への奨学金にも通じています。奨学金は経済的な支援であると同時に、学生の努力を認め、背中を押すメッセージでもあります。その励ましは、在学中だけでなく、その先の人生にも静かに力を与えてくれることでしょう。

柳沢様ご自身も、学費を工面しながら大学で学ばれました。その後、国家資格として言語聴覚士が創設され、第1回国家試験に合格され、新たな専門職としての第一歩を踏み出されました。それでもご自身の苦労を語るのではなく、これまで周囲から受けてきた支えへの感謝を口にされます。そして今、その思いを次の世代へとつないでくださっています。

法政大学での学びを今も大切に思い、本学の学生に温かなまなざしを向けてくださっていることに、心より感謝申し上げます。

We held a ceremony commemorating the establishment of a scholarship named after Ms. Kazuko Yanagisawa. The event included the presentation of a plaque of gratitude, a photo opportunity, and a most engaging discussion over lunch.

The discussion focused on Ms. Yanagisawa’s career as a speech therapist, working with young children with perceived speech difficulties and their guardians. She explained the actual work involved in identifying the issues that need to be addressed — speech problems arise from different causes and usually do not exist in isolation. She also shared the importance of, and the challenges inherent in, working together with parents, noting that yielding solely to their expectations does not lead to lasting results. Assisting these children and their families, as well as the care the guardians provide to their children, requires long-term commitment. Not only did Ms. Yanagisawa’s professionalism come through in her words, but so did her deep devotion to helping children and their parents.

This same devotion is reflected in the assistance Ms. Yanagisawa provides to our students in the form of this scholarship. A scholarship undoubtedly offers much-needed financial aid, but beyond that, it affirms students’ commitment to their studies. This affirmation will provide encouragement that extends well beyond financial assistance during their college years. More significantly, Ms. Yanagisawa’s own life serves as an inspiration to students. She worked hard to finance her university education herself. Years after graduation, she succeeded in passing the first national examination for speech therapists. Rather than dwelling on her own hardships, she acknowledged the guidance and encouragement she had received from those around her. Today, she is extending that generosity to our students.

We are immensely grateful that she has never forgotten Hosei University or the education she received here.
