マラ工科大学の皆さま

法政大学は、グローバル化の推進とDEI（多様性・公平性・包摂性）の実現に力を注いでいます。こうした取り組みがもたらす成果の一端を、マレーシアのマラ工科大学（UiTM）より本学理工学部との連携の一環として科学者の皆さまをお迎えした際に実感することができました。

私自身、マレーシア、とりわけペナンには特別な親しみを感じています。父が幼少期を過ごした土地だからです。私たちは英語で対話しましたが、文化的な共通の理解があったことで、より一層距離が縮まったように感じました。

UiTMの学長はオンラインで参加され、現地にお越しになった教授陣は、民族的背景およびジェンダーの両面において多様性に富んでいました。世界が一つにつながる瞬間を体感したと言っても決して大げさではありません。そして、本学の学生たちもまた、そのような瞬間を経験する機会に恵まれています。

法政大学とUiTMの学生は、他のアジア諸大学の学生とともに、特別なグローバル・プロジェクト型学習プログラム（gPBL）に参加しています。このプログラムでは、異なる国の学生による混成チームを編成し、ロボットコンテストに向けた複数のプロジェクトに協働して取り組みます。2週間にわたる集中的なプログラムであり、ロボティクスの知識を深めると同時に、英語によるコミュニケーション能力を磨き、異文化理解を豊かにする貴重な機会となっています。

両大学の教授陣がグローバルな科学教育の推進に尽力してくださっていることに、心より感謝申し上げます。そして、大学として私たちは確かな方向へ歩みを進めているという確信を、改めて強くしております。
 

Hosei University is committed to promoting global engagement and DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion). I had a glimpse of the outcomes such efforts can bring when I was visited by a team of scientists from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Malaysia, which collaborates with our Faculty of Science and Engineering.

I have a special affinity with Malaysia—especially Penang—as it is where my father grew up. Although we communicated in English, our shared familiarity with the culture brought us closer.

UiTM’s rector joined us online, and the professors on site reflected diversity in both ethnicity and gender. I am not exaggerating when I say that I experienced a moment in which it felt as though the world were coming together—and our students, too, have the opportunity to experience such moments.

Hosei University and UiTM students, together with students from other Asian universities, participate in a special Global Project-Based Learning program (gPBL). In this program, they are divided into mixed teams consisting of students from different countries and collaborate on projects for a robotics competition. It is an intensive two-week program that offers students the opportunity to learn about robotics while honing their English communication skills and enriching their cross-cultural experiences.

I am deeply grateful to the professors of both UiTM and Hosei for their dedication to fostering global scientific learning, and I am more convinced than ever that, as a university, we are moving in the right direction.
