CAMP in Campusの学生たち*
数年前、ダイバーシティ・ウィークスにおいて、不平等や災害支援についてご講演いただくために、二人の専門家をお招きしました。そして今日、現代福祉学部の二人の学生が、災害支援の現場における実際の取り組みについて多くの気づきを与えてくれ、「人間らしい生活を支える避難支援」というビジョンを共有してくれました。石川で地震発生後に彼らが行った活動は、深い学びの経験となり、その後の活動にも確実に生かされています。
特に印象的だったのは、批判的に考えながら行動する力、チームをつくり円滑に機能させる力、地域社会や関連業界とつながりを築くためのコミュニケーション力、そして何よりも、社会をより良くしようとする志と、人への深い心配りです。大学は学生に多くの機会を提供しましたが、この二人の学生はそれをつかむだけでなく、さらに広げてきました。
彼らの姿には、ひときわの輝きを感じました。卒業後も、自分自身のためだけでなく、周囲の人々のためにも、きっと実り多く意義深い人生を歩んでいくことでしょう。そして、法政スピリットを確実に広げていってくれるに違いありません。

A few years ago, I invited two experts to Diversity Weeks to speak about inequalities and disaster relief. Today, two students from the Gendai Fukushi Gakubu enlightened me about the realities of disaster relief work and shared their vision of humane evacuation support. The work they carried out in Ishikawa after the earthquake became a profound learning experience, which they have since carried forward into their subsequent activities.
What impressed me most was their combination of critical thinking and action, their ability to build and sustain effective teams, their communication skills in fostering connections with the local community and related industries, and above all, their compassion and determination to make things better. The university provided the opportunities for these young people, and they not only seized them, but expanded them.
I found these students truly dazzling. I have no doubt that they will continue to live deeply meaningful lives even after graduation—not only for themselves, but for the people around them. They will undoubtedly carry forward and spread the Hosei Spirit.
