海外研修を経験した若手職員2名と面会したことがあり、今日はその受け入れ先にあたるベトナムの若手職員の皆さんとお会いする機会をいただきました。
英語での会話では、日本での印象（日本がとても好きだそうです！）、母国の大学での仕事、そして法政大学で訪問した各部署での経験などについて話しました。
3人のうち1人は今回が初めての来日で、残りの2人は2回目だそうです。短い時間ではありましたが、皆さんの担当業務に対する確かな知識と、仕事への強い情熱が伝わってきました。私の質問にも的確かつ丁寧に答えてくれました。
また、本学の職員が来訪された職員の皆さんをとてもよくサポートしていることも感じました。それは単に以前受けた親切にお返しするということではなく、この貴重な機会を通じて学ぼうとする姿勢から来ていると思います。それは、専門的なスキルを高めるだけでなく、異なる文化や言語を超えた貴重な出会いを体験する機会でもあります。
そして、来訪された職員の皆さんの大学の学長が、こうした意欲的で有能な若手職員を誇りに思っておられるのと同じように、私もまた、本学の職員を誇りに思います。
I met with two young staff members who had participated in an overseas training program, and today I had the privilege of meeting their counterparts from Vietnam. Our conversation in English revolved around their impressions of Japan (they love Japan, apparently!) and the work they do at their home university, as well as the departments they have visited at Hosei.
For one of them, this is the first visit to Japan; for the other two, it’s their second. Even in our brief conversation, I could sense not only their strong command of their work but also their deep dedication to it. They answered all my questions with precision and substance.
I could also tell that our own staff members are taking excellent care of them—not merely to return the kindness once extended to them, but to make the most of this precious opportunity to learn. It is a chance not only to enhance professional skills, but also to experience meaningful encounters across different cultures and languages. And just as their president must be proud of these motivated, capable young staff members, I too am proud of mine.
