法政フェア――いわばホームカミングのイベント――では、卒業生やそのご家族だけでなく、運営を支えてくれた学生や職員の皆さんとも交流することができました。また、校友会主催の特別講演では、ジェンダー平等の推進について自分の考えを共有し、「女性の活躍」という概念そのものへの批判的な問いから、企業における女性管理職を増やすための実践的な方法まで、幅広い質問にお答えしました。
さらに、卒業30周年、40周年、50周年を迎えた卒業生を祝う催しもありました。各会場やイベントでのちょっとした会話や出会いの中で、卒業生の多彩な経験、世代ごとの大学での体験の違い、母校や現在の職場を子どもに誇らしげに見せる保護者の姿、複数のイベントを支える若い職員の熱意とプロフェッショナリズム、そして何より応援団の圧倒的なエネルギーに心を動かされました。
世代を超えた多様な卒業生は、大学へのさまざまな課題や期待を語ってくれました。
しかし、何よりも強く印象に残ったのは、彼らをひとつに結びつけている情熱と母校への強い帰属意識です。
唯一の心残りは……大人気のえこぴょんと一緒に写真を撮れなかったことです！
The Hosei Fair – our homecoming event – brought me into contact not only with alumni and their families, but also with students and staff who worked hard to ensure everything ran smoothly. In addition, the special talk hosted by the Hosei University Alumni Association gave me the chance to share my thoughts on promoting gender equality and to answer questions ranging from critical reflections on the very concept of “women’s active participation in society” to practical ways of increasing the number of women in corporate management. There were also celebrations for alumni who graduated 30, 40, and 50 years ago!
Even in brief conversations and encounters across events and venues, I was struck by the breadth of alumni experiences, the generational differences in how they experienced the university, the pride of parents showing their children their alma mater or current workplace, the dedication and professionalism of the young staff managing multiple events, and, of course, the unstoppable energy of the cheerleading team.
Alumni of all ages and generations expressed diverse concerns and expectations for the university. But what stood out most was the shared passion and sense of belonging that unite them all.
My only regret? Not being able to get a picture with our beloved bunny mascot!!
