【学部ニュース】PwC Japan 有限責任監査法人で働く卒業生へインタビュー！（2026年3月卒　吉川輝さん）／【Department News】Graduate Interview with Hikaru Yoshikawa, Now working at PricewaterhouseCoopers Japan LLC!

学生時代は、学業・米国公認会計士試験の学習・長期インターンシップの三つを両立することに力を入れました。大学ではビジネス分野を中心に学び、3年次からはEntrepreneurship and Innovationゼミに所属しました。4年次には1年間アメリカ・テキサス州へ留学し、現地で会計を学ぶとともに、空き時間を活用してUSCPAの学習を継続し、在学中に全科目合格を達成しました。また、3年次から約1年半、外資系企業で長期インターンシップに参加し、英語で会計・内部統制に関する実務を経験しました。限られた時間を最大限活用することを意識しながら挑戦を続けたことが、現在の土台になっています。
During my university years, I focused on balancing three major commitments: my academic studies, preparation for the U.S. CPA examination, and a long-term internship. I primarily studied business-related subjects and joined the Entrepreneurship and Innovation seminar in my third year. In my fourth year, I spent a year studying abroad in Texas, where I took accounting courses while continuing to prepare for the U.S. CPA exam in my spare time. Ultimately, I passed all four sections before graduation. I also completed a long-term internship at a multinational luxury retail company, where I gained practical experience in accounting and internal controls. Throughout these experiences, I made a conscious effort to make the most of my limited time, and the ability to balance multiple commitments has become an important foundation for my professional career today.

私は、圧倒的な会計の専門性を身につけ、グローバルに活躍できるプロフェッショナルを目指したいと考え、この業界を志望しました。100％英語で学ぶGISで培った語学力を生かし、国際的な案件にも携われる点にも魅力を感じました。中でもPwC Japan有限責任監査法人の財務報告アドバイザリー部は、監査法人ならではの会計や内部統制などの専門性を軸に企業を支援できる環境であり、自分の理想のキャリアに最も近いと考えました。また、個性を尊重し、職階に関係なくフラットに意見を交わせるカルチャーにも強く惹かれました。
I chose this industry because I wanted to develop deep expertise in accounting and become a professional capable of working on a global scale. I was also attracted by the opportunity to leverage the language skills I developed through studying entirely in English at GIS and work on international engagements. In particular, PwC Japan’s Financial Reporting Advisory (FRA) team offered an environment where I could support clients by leveraging the accounting and internal control expertise that is a core strength of an audit firm, making it an ideal fit for the career I envisioned. I was strongly drawn to PwC’s culture of respecting individuals and encouraging open,  direct communication.

現在は、大手金融機関に対する会計基準導入支援プロジェクトに携わっています。日米の公認会計士を中心としたチームの一員として、実務における会計論点に日々向き合いながら業務を行っています。1年目からクライアントと直接コミュニケーションを取り、成果物作成を任されるため、その分成長を実感でき、大きなやりがいを感じています。また、チーム内では職階に関係なく活発に議論しながら仕事を進める風土があり、安心して挑戦できる環境だと感じています。
I am currently involved in an accounting standards implementation project for a major financial institution. As a member of a team comprising primarily Japanese and U.S. CPAs, I work closely with accounting issues arising in practice on a daily basis. From my first year, I have had opportunities to communicate directly with clients and take ownership of deliverables. While the expectations are high, these opportunities allow me to see my growth firsthand and find great fulfillment in my work.

GISで培った批判的思考力は、現在の業務で大いに生かされています。会計基準導入支援では、作業の背景や前提を正しく理解し、現状を鵜呑みにせず、「本当にこれでよいのか」と多角的な視点で検討する姿勢が求められます。また、成果物を作成する際のセルフレビューでも、客観的な視点から内容を見直す習慣が役立っています。さらに、GISで数多く経験したグループワークを通じて培ったコミュニケーション力は、多様なメンバーと議論しながらプロジェクトを進める現在の業務でも大きな強みとなっています。
The critical thinking skills I developed at GIS have been invaluable in my current role. When supporting the implementation of accounting standards, it is essential to understand the background and assumptions behind each task and to approach issues from multiple perspectives rather than taking the status quo at face value. These skills also help me review my work objectively and ensure the quality of my deliverables.
The communication skills I developed through numerous group projects at GIS have also enabled me to collaborate and exchange ideas effectively with diverse team members throughout each project.

まずは実務経験を積み重ね、会計基準ごとの論点やそれらを実務へ適用する際の考え方への理解を深めることで、会計の専門性を磨いていきたいと考えています。また、現在所属する部署では会計アドバイザリーに加え、グローバルM&AやIPO支援など幅広いプロジェクトにも携わる機会があります。さまざまな業務を経験しながら専門性の幅を広げ、自分ならではの強みを持つプロフェッショナルへ成長していきたいです。
I would like to first deepen my expertise in accounting through hands-on experience and to develop a thorough understanding of key issues under different accounting standards and how they are applied in practice. The FRA also provides opportunities to work on a wide range of projects such as global M&A and IPO support. Through gaining experience across diverse engagements, I hope to broaden the scope of my expertise and ultimately grow into a professional with a distinctive set of strengths.
