Research Interests/研究関心 | Professor Hiramori uses quantitative methods to study stratification and inequality based on sexuality and gender as well as sexual and gender minority populations from queer and feminist perspectives. In particular, he is interested in (1) socioeconomic inequality based on sexual orientation and gender identity; (2) the measurement of sexual orientation and gender identity in quantitative research; (3) sexual/gender minorities and social attitudes; and (4) queer and feminist methodologies. Through his research and educational activities, he is committed to using his privilege as a social scientist to focus on the ways in which systemically marginalized populations, such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people, become free in a system that operates to oppress them.
