【学部ニュース】United Boardが福岡学部長と意見交換、Khor総長を表敬訪問 / United Board Delegation Meets with Dean Fukuoka and Pays a Courtesy Visit to President Diana Khor

1月16日、United Boardのメンバーが来日し、法政大学にてGISの福岡学部長を中心に、日本およびアジアにおける大学・学部のマネジメントおよび教育のあり方について意見交換を行いました。GISでは、福岡学部長のもと、研究・教育の両面において国際的な連携を重視し、日常的にグローバルな視点からの教育・研究活動に取り組んでいます。
United Boardは、1922年にアジアにおけるキリスト教高等教育の発展を目的として設立された非政府組織であり、米国では税制上の優遇を受ける非営利団体、香港では公益慈善団体として正式に登録されています。近年は、キリスト教教育に限らず、アジアの高等教育機関と幅広く連携し、リーダーシップとイノベーションの育成を通じて全人的成長を促す学びを支援しています。
今回の訪問では、インド、インドネシア、タイ、台湾、バングラデシュ、フィリピン、ミャンマー、ラオスの8か国から、各大学の学長・学部長等、計17名が参加し、訪問の締めくくりとして、場所を移し、Diana Khor総長への表敬訪問が行われました。

GISにとって、本訪問は、研究・教育の国際化をさらに推進するうえで多くの示唆を得る機会となりました。今後も福岡学部長のもと、海外ネットワークの形成と深化に努め、研究・教育のさらなるグローバル展開を進めてまいります。

On January 16, members of the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia visited Japan and met at Hosei University for an exchange of views with Professor Takamasa Fukuoka, Dean of the Faculty of Global and Interdisciplinary Studies (GIS). The discussion focused on university and faculty management as well as approaches to higher education in Japan and across Asia.
Under Dean Fukuoka’s leadership, GIS places strong emphasis on international collaboration in both research and education, and is actively engaged on a daily basis in academic activities from a global perspective.
Founded in 1922 to promote Christian higher education in Asia, the United Board is a nongovernmental organization registered as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in the United States and as a public charity in Hong Kong. In recent years, its activities have expanded beyond Christian education to include collaboration with a wide range of higher education institutions across Asia, supporting learning that fosters holistic development through leadership and innovation.
The visit brought together a total of 17 participants, including university presidents and deans, from eight countries: India, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos. The program concluded with a courtesy visit to President Diana Khor.

For GIS, this visit provided valuable insights that will further advance the internationalization of research and education. Under the leadership of Dean Fukuoka, GIS will continue to strengthen and expand its global networks and promote the continued global development of its research and educational activities.
