【学部ニュース】ゴールドマン・サックスで活躍中！語学力と分析力を武器にグローバルに挑むキャリア（T.M.さん）

T.M.さん（2020年3月卒業）

今回インタビューした卒業生は、グローバル教養学部（GIS）在学中に中国語教師のアルバイトなどに力を注ぎ、卒業後はPwCあらた有限責任監査法人に入所。現在はゴールドマン・サックス証券株式会社で活躍しています。学生時代の取り組みや現在の仕事内容、今後の展望についてお話を伺いました。

For this interview, we spoke to T.M., a graduate from the Department of Global and Interdisciplinary Studies (GIS), who dedicated themselves to work as a part-time Chinese teacher while enrolled. After graduation, they joined PwC Arata LLC, and is currently working at Goldman Sachs, Japan. We spoke to them about their activities during their student days, current job responsibilities, and their future goals and aspirations.

　ーGIS生を目指す高校生にメッセージをお願いします。

大学卒業後、PwCあらた有限責任監査法人に入所しました。監査、アシュアランスやビジネスプロセス、制度規制を修得し、リスクコンサルタントとしての資質を磨いてきました。監査業務を通じて得た経験とノウハウから、保証業務のみならず、経営課題解決のためのアドバイザリーサービスも経験し、ITと経営管理、リスク管理の専門家として企業の成長に寄与しました。また、自身の強みである英語と中国語を活用して、海外アサインメントも複数経験しました。その後、2022年、ゴールドマンサックス証券株式会社に入社し、自社のガバナンス・プロセス、統制、リスク管理などを含めた会社の内部統制の構造について、独立的な観点から各種評価を行う業務などを経験しています。前述のとおり、入社以来、中国語を日常的に使用しています。

After graduating, I joined the PwC Arata LLC, and gained experience in auditing, assurance, business processes, and regulatory compliance; all skills I use as a risk consultant. Drawing on the experience I learned while working as an auditor, I expanded beyond assurance work to include advisory services focused on resolving management challenges, contributing to corporate growth as an expert in IT, management control, and risk management. Leveraging my expertise in English and Chinese, I’ve also taken on several overseas assignments. Then, in 2022, I joined Goldman Sachs, Japan, where I’ve been involved in conducting a range of assessments from an independent perspective, regarding the company’s internal control structure, like it’s governance processes, controls, and risk management. Like I said earlier, I’ve been using Chinese on a daily basis since joining the company.

将来どうなるか全くわからない中で、会計、I T、英語をフルに活用できる職場・業界を選んでいました。結果、後悔していません。

I had no idea what the future held, so I chose a workplace and an industry where I could really utilize my accounting, IT, and English skills. I have no regrets.

GISでの授業はどの授業もグループディスカッションがあったり、クリティカルに物事を考えさせるようなカリキュラム構成だと感じます。卒業論文を書く経験も社会人になってからのレポート作成などにかなり役立っております。就活時もそうですが、職場では自分の考えを他人にわかりやすく説明するスキルが求められるので、非常に助かっております。

I feel that all the GIS courses utilized group discussions and were designed to encourage critical thinking. The experience of writing my thesis was also extremely helpful in preparing reports since I started working. Just like during my job search, my ability to explain my ideas clearly to others is essential in the workplace, so this experience has been a great asset.

個性豊かな学生が多く、先生たちも様々な地域出身な方がおり、勉強のみではなく、異文化経験を日本で経験できることは非常に魅力的です。

There are so many students with unique personalities, and the faculty members come from all over the world. It’s incredibly appealing to be able to experience different cultures right here in Japan, in addition to regular studies.

個性豊かな学生が多く、日本にいながら海外大学通ってる雰囲気も味わえるため、とてもお勧めできる学部です。受験是非頑張ってください。

I highly recommend this department, because of the variety of students. You can experience the atmosphere of attending university abroad right here in Japan. Best of luck on your entrance exams!
