【イベント報告】 [GIS Talk] Dr. Stefania Cicillini, November 14

11月14日に開催された秋学期２回目のGIS Talkには、Dr Stefania Cicillini をお招きしました。Dr Cicillini はイタリアのトリノ大学の英語学と翻訳専攻のリサーチ・フェローおよび講師です。高等教育の国際化や、English-medium instruction (EMI) 、アングリシズムについて研究されています。GIS Talkでは、出版されたばかりのご著書『The Language Factor in English-medium instruction: A Longitudinal Study of Students’ Language Gains  (2025)』から最新の研究についてご紹介いただきました。参加した学生や教員は、イタリアのEMIの現状、縦断研究の結果とその波及効果について理解を深め、イタリアと日本のEMIの状況や効果と比較をするなどして、興味津々でお話を伺いました。

On November 14th, GIS welcomed Dr Stefania Cicillini as the second speaker in this GIS Talks series. Dr Cicillini is a Research Fellow and Lecturer in English Translation, Language and Linguistics at the University of Torino, in Italy. Her research interests include the internationalisation of higher education, English-medium instruction (EMI) and Anglicisms. Dr Cicilini's well-attended talk focused on her research behind her recently published monograph, The Language Factor in English-medium instruction: A Longitudinal Study of Students’ Language Gains (2025). Attendees learned much about the EMI landscape in Italy, her longitudinal study, and its implications. It was highly engaging, provoking much reflection on, and comparison with, the EMI situation in Japan.
