2025年度の第一回目のGIS Talk（４月２３日開催）には、現在法政大学のHIF（Hosei International Fund）研究員として英国バース大学から来日中のElizabeth Emelueさんにお越しいただきました。イギリスの学校教育におけるSTEM教育の現状と課題についてお話いただき、STEM教育が単なる「理系の知識を得るための授業」ではなく、グローバル社会における様々な課題を学際的な視点で解決しようとする柔軟な思考力を伸ばすための教育であることを学びました。

We had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Elizabeth Emelue, currently a HIF (Hosei International Fund) Research Fellow at Hosei University, from the University of Bath for the first GIS Talk of the 2025 academic year. Ms. Emelue spoke about the current trends and challenges of STEM in school education in the United Kingdom. We were pleased to hear that STEM education is not merely about acquiring knowledge in the fields of science and technology, but is also about fostering flexible critical thinking skills aimed at solving various global issues from an interdisciplinary perspective.
