On April 20th 2024, GIS professor Mark Birtles took part in an interdisciplinary panel discussion at East Asia ICLHE symposium at the University of Niigata Prefecture. The theme of the discussion was "integration" in the English-language classroom and what this means for non-native students studying in English. The lively hour-long debate touched on topics like translanguaging, technology and government policy.
