GISの魅力は、英語で専門分野を学びながら、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ学生と議論できる環境にあると思います。授業内外で異なる視点に触れることで、自分の考えを深める機会が多く、主体的に学び続ける姿勢が求められる点にも魅力を感じています。
What I like most about GIS is the opportunity to study specialized subjects in English while interacting with students from diverse backgrounds. Being exposed to different perspectives both inside and outside the classroom allows me to deepen my thinking and I also appreciate that the environment encourages continuous self-driven learning.
Q GISに実際に入ってみてイメージと違っていたこと、予想外だったことは何ですか？／What were the biggest differences between your expectation and reality at GIS?
入学前は英語で授業を受けること自体が大きなハードルだと考えていましたが、実際には言語以上に内容をどれだけ深く理解するかが重要であると感じました。英語はあくまで学びの手段であり、自ら考え主体的に取り組む姿勢がより求められる環境であることに気づいた点が、印象的でした。
Before entering GIS, I thought that studying in English would be the biggest challenge. However, I realized that understanding the content deeply is far more important than the language itself. English is simply a tool for learning, and what truly matters is the ability to think independently and engage proactively in one’s studies.
Q. 興味のある分野や、印象に残っている授業を教えてください。／What interests have you gained from your classes? Have any classes had a lasting impact on you?
興味のある分野はビジネスと哲学です。ビジネスでは、社会における意思決定や価値の生み出し方に関心があり、哲学では物事を多角的に捉え、本質について考える力を深められる点に魅力を感じています。また印象に残っている授業では、産業界で活躍する実務家による講義を聞ける授業がありました。これを通じて、異なる文化・市場における考え方に触れ、グローバルな視点やキャリアについての貴重な学びを得ることができました。
My interests lie in both business and philosophy. In business, I am interested in decision-making and value creation in society, while philosophy allows me to examine issues from multiple perspectives and think deeply about their underlying nature. One memorable class involved listening to lectures by professionals active in various industries. Through this experience, I was exposed to different ways of thinking across cultures and markets, and gained valuable insights into global perspectives and career paths.

普段の友人との会話は英語ですか？／Do you usually speak English with your friends?
授業中は英語でやり取りを行いますが、授業外では友人と日本語で会話することが多いです。一方で、GISの友人とは会話の内容に応じて英語と日本語を使い分けており、状況に合わせて柔軟に言語を選んでいます。こうした環境の中で英語を使う機会が増えたことで、次第に英語が自然に口から出るようになり、英語力の向上につながっていると感じています。
In class, instruction is conducted in English, while outside of class I often speak Japanese with my friends. At the same time, with my GIS friends, I adjust my use of English and Japanese depending on the content of the conversation, adapting the language based on the situation. Being in such an environment has increased my opportunities to use English, and I have gradually become more comfortable expressing myself, which I believe has contributed to improving my English skills.
Q. 興味のある業界、その理由を教えてください。／What industries are you interested in, and why?
私が関心を持っているのは、企業や事業の成長や課題解決に関わる分野です。特に、既存のビジネスからどのように新たな価値を生み出していくかといった点に興味があります。また、ビジネスモデルや戦略の違いによって成果がどのように変わるのかを考えることにも魅力を感じています。今後も英語を活かしながら、自分なりの視点でこの分野への理解を深めていきたいと考えています。
I am particularly interested in areas related to business growth and problem-solving within organizations. I am especially curious about how new value can be created from existing businesses and find it interesting to consider how different business models and strategies lead to different outcomes. Moving forward, I plan to make use of my English skills while deepening my understanding of this field from my own perspective.
