【入試ニュース】合格体験記_Mari（一般選抜 大学共通テスト利用入試B方式）

高校時代、私は世界史と日本史に熱心に取り組みました。その理由は、これらの科目が苦手だったため、克服しようと努力したことにあります。しかし、GISの大衆文化の授業で、文化と歴史が密接に関連していることを学びました。歴史の知識を深めることで、その文化がどのように形成されたのかをより深く理解できると気づきました。特に、大衆文化が人々のナショナリティーやアイデンティティーに与える影響を研究する際には、歴史の理解が不可欠だと感じました。なぜなら、大衆文化は人の意識や行動に影響を与え、社会を動かし、歴史を形成する力があるからです。また、現在の時事問題を考える際にも、歴史が繰り返されていることに気づけることが大きな学びだと実感しています。これらの点から、私の歴史への取り組みはGISでの学びと深く繋がっています。

In high school, I worked hard on world history and Japanese history. I initially struggled with these subjects and wanted to improve. Later, in GIS’s popular culture class, I learned how closely culture and history are connected. I realized that understanding history helps explain how cultures form. This understanding is especially important when studying how popular culture influences the sense of identity and nationality that people have. Popular culture can shape people’s thoughts and actions, move societies, and even create history. I also noticed that many current events repeat history. These insights show how my efforts in history directly connect to what I’m learning in GIS.

将来、客室乗務員として働きたいと考えており、英語力を伸ばすために英語環境に身を置きたいと思いました。また、海外経験が少ない私にとって、グローバルな視点を身につけられるGISの教育に大きな魅力を感じました。さらに、法政大学の派遣留学制度を活用したいという思いも、GISを志望した理由のひとつです。

I want to become a flight attendant in the future, so I want to improve my English by being in an all-English environment. Since I have limited experience abroad, GIS’s global education approach is fascinating to me. Another reason is that I’d like to use Hosei University's study abroad program.

私が共通テスト利用入試を選んだ理由は、第一志望校が共通テストと英語の資格を必須としていたこと、そしてこの方式では入試当日に試験を受ける必要がなく、他大学や他学部と併願しやすかったからです。また、大学の過去問対策をする必要がない点も大きな利点でした。

I chose the common test-based entrance exam because my first-choice university required the common test and an English qualification. This method allowed me to avoid taking additional exams and made it easier to apply to other universities or departments.

共通テストの勉強では、基礎を固めることを徹底しました。古典では古文単語や漢文句法を繰り返し学び、現代文では頻出テーマを理解することを重視しました。特に『現代文キーワード読解』という参考書を熟読しました。世界史では、時代や年号を覚えながら全体の流れを理解することを心がけ、「誰かに説明できるようになること」を意識して学習しました。暗記だけでなく、理解することで自然と知識が定着しました。英語、国語、世界史全般においても、安定した得点を取れるよう、反復練習を積み重ねました。

For the common test, I focused on building a strong foundation. For classical Japanese, I repeatedly reviewed vocabulary and grammar. In modern Japanese, I focused on understanding common themes. For world history, I focused on understanding the flow of events while thinking about how to explain each history event to someone else in an understandable way. This method helped me not just memorize content, but also truly understand it. Through repetition, I tried to get consistent scores in all of my subjects, including English, Japanese, and World history.

共通テスト利用入試では、大学ごとの過去問対策が不要であるため、実際の入試より負担が少なく感じました。また、他の選択肢と並行して挑戦しやすかったことも利点でした。大学受験の方法は一つではなく、多様な選択肢があります。共通テストを受験する場合、共通テスト利用入試も有力な選択肢のひとつだと思います。

The common test-based exam reduced the stress of having to prepare for individual university exams. It also allowed me to apply to multiple universities at once. With many options available for university admissions, I think the common test-based method can be a useful choice.

合格の秘訣は「結果を受け入れること」です。一喜一憂せず、先のことを心配せずに目の前の課題に集中することが重要です。受験は運命であり、結果はすでに決まっていると考えると、冷静にやるべきことを進めることができます。自然と自分に縁のある場所にたどり着くはずです。

The key to success is “accepting the results.” Avoid overreacting to small things or worrying too much about the future. Focus on the tasks in front of you. Think of exams as part of fate, where the outcome is already set. This mindset can help you calmly complete what you need to do. You’ll naturally find your way to the place that fits you best.

英検準1級

GISに入学して良かった点は大きく二つあります。一つ目は、教育環境が整っていることです。幅広い分野の授業が展開されており、自分の興味を深めるだけでなく、新たな関心を発見する機会が多いと感じます。少人数制の授業ではディスカッションが活発に行われ、教授と直接関わる機会が多いのも魅力です。全て英語で行われる授業は英語力向上に大きく寄与し、留学生との交流を通じて授業外でも英語を使う機会が多くあります。また、GIS資料室を利用し、エッセイの添削や授業内容の相談をすることで学びを深めています。二つ目は、さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ人々と出会えることです。他国の文化や考え方に触れることで、視野が広がり、新しい価値観を身につけることができました。特に、自分のナショナリティーから離れて物事を考える視点を得たことが大きな収穫です。このように、GISでの学びは私にとって非常に有意義なものとなっています。

There are two main things I appreciate about GIS.
Firstly, GIS provides me with an excellent learning environment. The program offers a wide variety of courses, allowing me to deepen my interests and discover new ones. Small class sizes encourage active discussions and personal interaction with professors. The English-only classes have greatly improved my language skills. I also frequently use the reference room for essay feedback and discussions about class materials. Secondly, I can meet people from diverse backgrounds. Learning about other cultures and perspectives has broadened my view and taught me new values. One of the biggest benefits has been learning to see things by stepping aside from my own nationality. Overall, studying in GIS has been a highly rewarding experience for me.
