【イベント報告】[GIS Talk] Sarah-Anne Gresham, June 27

On June 27^th, Sarah-Anne Gresham, a Ph.D. candidate in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Rutgers University gave a fascinating GIS Talk. Currently at Hosei International Scholars Fellow, she presented on her current research project she is conducting while in Tokyo. In her talk, she presented on globally famous musician Megan Thee Stallion, who raps about anime and cosplays herself, connecting it to broader issues that relate to even less famous cosplayers. Engaging with media theory, Gresham revealed how anime and cosplay are crucial sites of analysis for understanding race, gender, and sexuality within contemporary culture.

6月27日のGIS Talkでは、米国ラトガース大学ウイメンズ・ジェンダー・セクシュアリティ研究科の博士候補生、サラ＝アン・グレシャムさんが登壇し、講演を行いました。現在、法政大学国際交流基金による招聘研究員として研究を行うグレシャムさんは、現在進行中の研究プロジェクトについて講演を行いました。講演では、世界的に有名な音楽家のミーガン・ジー・スタリオンを取り上げ、一般的なコスプレイヤーにも通じる幅広い問題に結びつけて説明しました。また、メディア論による分析を通じて、アニメやコスプレが現代文化における人種、ジェンダー、セクシュアリティを理解する上で、いかに重要な分析対象であるかを明らかにしました。
