【イベント報告】GSAS 第四回ワークショップ開催 / Forth GSAS Workshop Held

秋学期一回目のGSAS（10月16日開催）は、GISの卒業生である原田遼太さんをお招きし、ディスカッションを行いました。原田さんは2023年3月にGISを卒業後、JASSOの奨学金を受け、Lancaster Universityで言語学の修士号をwith distinctionで取得し、先日帰国されました。１から４年生までのGIS生が集まり、身近な先輩から多くの刺激を受けました。「毎日、何時間くらい勉強したんですか」「GISでこれをやっておいてよかった！と思ったことは何ですか」「就職の心配はありましたか」など、相次ぐ質問に、体験者ならではの親身なアドバイスと情報をいただくことができました。「Distinctionを取る秘訣は何ですか」という質問に対し、「先生に言われたこと以上のことをやるだけ」とサラッと言っている姿がカッコよかったです。参加者全員が自然と英語で盛り上がっているのもGISらしくて良かったと思います。原田さん、ありがとうございました！

GSAS had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Ryota Harada for its first session of the fall semester (Oct 16). Mr. Harada graduated from GIS in March 2023 and received a full scholarship from JASSO to study at Lancaster University for one year. He recently returned to Japan after being awarded a Master's degree in Linguistics with distinction.  Mr. Harada answered many questions that GIS students from first to fourth year asked: "How much did you study every day?" "Is there anything you did in GIS that was helpful for studying in grad school?" "Were you concerned about getting a job?" Professors Birtles and Niiya were impressed to hear his answer to the question: "How did you manage to get a distinction?" "Well, you just need to do a little more than what the professors expect you to do!" Thank you, Ryota, for being such a perfect role model to our students!
