■ 概要　：What happens when Western game developers use content from Japan? Are the game writers always trained in Japanese studies? How do they go about their responsibility to Japanese culture, history, and literature? Tackling fundamental questions crucial for content creation in game development, Małgorzata (Gosia) K. Citko-DuPlantis analyzes the cyborg ninja Genji character in an American videogame Overwatch. She argues that Overwatch made Genji cool but also that it claimed the right to control the future of premodern Japan’s cultural heritage. Her stay in Japan in July 2024 is supported by the National Institute of Japanese Literature in Tokyo.
