Department of Sociology

Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty is composed of three departments, with a curriculum with seven tracks and eight programs. The system for subjects has been established for all three departments.

Department of Sociology, Pursuing Modes of Existence of Contemporary Society

The Department aims to cultivate individuals who possess the ability to be discerning and flexible in the face of constantly changing social conditions by clarifying, through broad knowledge of sociological theories, the various phenomena concerning man, culture and society. In the Department, students choose from the Community Design Program, Man and Society Program, Media Society Program and International Society Program, and conduct multidimensional studies from micro-human relationships to global relationships that transcend nations. At the same time, through such fieldwork as the Social Research Practicum, students learn ways of going into the actual world and grasping the actual situation in society with their own hands, and the skills to analyze such.
