This Institute was founded in 1946 with former Hosei University president Dr. OUCHI Hyoe as its head. It is now located at tama Campus and is known as an unique research institute in Japan with outstanding achievements in many fields. Its main task is research activity on statistical systems and policies of foreign and domestic governments and organizations, on the theory of statistics, and on regional statistics. Research is carried out mainly by the academic staff of Hosei University in cooperation with specialists from outside including the governmental staff.
