International Program

Research

The Hosei University Graduate Schools offer a number of subsidy schemes for the purposes of facilitating broad-ranging participation in research activities and improving the research capabilities of graduate students. Education and research support is also made available to international students in forms including a tutor program and Japanese language tutor consultations.

Through these various forms of support, the Graduate Schools seek to enable their students to devote themselves to research activities in Japan and abroad.

Academic Presentation Grant

Designed to promote greater internationalization and sophistication in academic research conducted in the Graduate Schools, this grant covers some expenses associated with participating in academic conferences and similar events held in Japan and abroad. Fieldwork Expense Grant

Designed to promote greater internationalization and sophistication in academic research conducted in the Graduate Schools, this grant covers some expenses associated with conducting fieldwork in Japan and abroad. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Foreign Language Proofreading Grant

This grant covers costs related to proofreading of academic papers written by master’s and doctoral students in foreign languages. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Academic Publication Fee Grant

Designed to promote current graduate students’ academic research and support the presentation of their findings, this grant covers publication fees required when publishing articles in academic journals. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Publication Subsidy

This scheme subsidizes some expenses incurred by those who have earned Doctoral degrees in the Hosei University Graduate Schools in publishing their doctoral dissertations. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Study Abroad Grant

This scheme subsidizes some expenses incurred by those who have earned Doctoral degrees in the Hosei University Graduate Schools in publishing their doctoral dissertations. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Tutor Program

Designed for international students enrolled in the Graduate Schools, this program is operated systematically across the Graduate Schools as a whole and generally involves higher-year students tutoring their junior counterparts. For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Japanese Language Tutor Consultations

Designed for international students in master’s and doctoral programs as well as those enrolled as research trainees, research students, research associates and the like, this program offers guidance in Japanese communication for in-class assignments and master’s and doctoral degree dissertations, with the aim of enhancing the provision of education and research support to international students. Graduate School Bulletin

The Graduate Schools encourage students to publish their research findings in the Graduate School Bulletin (issued twice a year, at the end of October and the end of March). For details, please refer to the application guidelines.

Research and Development Center

The Research and Development Center offers a variety of support for faculty members to obtain external funding and to use the funding they have obtained effectively. The Center also operates initiatives to foster young researchers, including the Hosei University Joint Research Projects for Young Researchers, designed to assist the career development of young researchers by allowing them to submit applications as principal investigators in joint research projects conducted together with full-time faculty members of Hosei University. Another initiative is the provision of support for students in the Graduate Schools’ doctoral program to apply for the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science’s Research Fellowship for Young Scientists (DC2) scheme.
