Cancellation of classes in case of disruption of public transportation due to typhoon, heavy snow, strike or other reasons

In case of an interruption of public transportation due to typhoon or heavy snow

Hosei University may cancel classes if a major interruption of public transportation is expected due to a typhoon or heavy snow or if it judges that commuting to school may be jeopardized during the class term.

  1. In case a major interruption of public transportation is expected in the Tokyo Metropolitan area due to bad weather, etc., or commuting to school may be jeopardized due to a storm warning, Hosei University shall discuss whether the classes of the day are implemented and make its decision well known in the following methods:
    1. Cancellation of the 1st and 2nd periods shall be notified on the University’s official Twitter account by 6:00 a.m. of the day. The same information shall also be posted on the University’s official website by around 6:30 a.m. the same day.
    2. Cancellation of the 3rd through 5th periods shall be notified on the University’s official website by 10:00 a.m. of the day.
    3. Cancellation of the 6th and 7th periods shall be notified on the University’s official website by 3:00 p.m. of the day.
  2. In case a major interruption of public transportation due to advance knowledge of a typhoon hitting, etc., the notification method of the cancellation information shall be posted on the University’s official website by 5:00 p.m. of the previous day, to make the information well known to its students and faculty members.
  3. Regardless of the above, in case a major impact is expected on the implementation of classes the next day, cancellation of the classes may be determined by 5:00 p.m. of the previous day and be posted on the University’s official website.

In case of a strike of public transportation

Hosei University has set a rule on cancellation of classes in case of a public transportation strike:

  1. In case JR service is interrupted due to a strike, classes shall, in principle, be cancelled on the following conditions:
    1. If the strike has not been called off by 6:00 a.m., 1st and 2nd periods of the daytime courses shall be cancelled.
    2. If the strike has not been called off by 10:00 a.m., all periods of the daytime courses shall be cancelled.
    3. If the strike has not been called off by noon, all periods of daytime and evening courses shall be cancelled.
  2. In addition to the above, if any or all of the services of the Keio Line, Keio Bus or Kanachu Bus are interrupted due to a strike of any or all of these railway or bus operators, classes shall, in principle, be cancelled on the following conditions (for bus, in case the routes departing or arriving at Hosei University Tama Campus are interrupted):
    1. If the strike has not been called off by 6:00 a.m. (for bus, by 8:00 a.m.), 1st and 2nd periods at Tama campus shall be cancelled.
    2. If the strike has not been called off by 10:00 a.m. (for bus, by noon), all classes at Tama campus shall be cancelled.
