Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Career Studies

Undergraduate Programs

The Faculty of Lifelong Learning and Career Studies has as its goal the making of professionals able to undertake the needs of a society which pursues lifelong learning. This includes preparing individuals to become academic advisors as well as employment/career counselors. To achieve this goal, the curriculum focuses on empirical as well as practical training in students of Japanese, foreign culture, and educational and cultural business in the contemporary society.

Until now, vocational training has been shouldered by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Education, on the other hand, for the individual’s place in the community, family, amusement, and culture arenas has been shouldered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. In this faculty, Hosei University is the first in the nation to unite the two realms at the university level, similar to movements toward consolidation of both spheres in other countries.
