Major in Applied Chemistry

Graduate School of Science and Engineering

“Cultivating R&D experts and engineers who will help create a sustainable society by utilizing their expertise in 21st-century chemistry”

Applied chemistry is increasingly important in solving environmental problems and contributing to the development of new materials, both of which are key issues in the 21st century. This major has four areas of study: physical chemistry, materials chemistry, chemical engineering, and environmental chemistry. Students will acquire basic knowledge and applied technologies in the fields of applied chemistry research, such as the development of low-impact functional materials, the development of chemical processing technologies intended to promote the coexistence of humans and the environment, and the development of chemical solutions to various problems related to the environment based on a comprehensive view of their impact on the biogeochemical cycle and living organisms within the global environment. The goal is to produce R&D specialists and engineers who contribute to the creation of a sustainable society by utilizing their specialized skills in chemistry in a wide range of industrial sectors, particularly in the manufacturing industry, and at research institutions.
