Graduate School of Politics

Japanese-based Degree Programs

The study of politics addresses a diverse range of specific affairs, including domestic issues related to cities, education, waste, and the elderly as well as international issues such as development, ethnic conflict, peace, and globalization. It not only offers criticism on these issues, but also involves the exploration of their causes, the identification of their larger mechanisms and structures, and the study of policies for solving them. Contemporary political problems require more than traditional, classical knowledge; they require advanced, specialized knowledge of financial policies, laws, organizations, and wholly new stakeholders that might be leveraged to solve those problems. This graduate school covers two majors: the major in politics, for cultivating researchers who want to study and solve various problems in contemporary politics, and the major in global politics, which focuses on training advanced professionals who will play an active role in today’s global society.
