Japanese Government Scholarships

The Japanese Government Scholarships program is an exceptional one. Students from abroad wishing to study in Japan discover that the process is a tedious one. The difficulty lies not only in the time and money it takes but also in the submission and re-submission of various documents. This program provides assistance and support in many areas. We hope that deserving students will avail themselves of this program to study at Hosei University.

What are Japanese Government Scholarships?

These scholarships are awarded and administered by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho: MEXT).

Categories

Applying for and awarding of Japanese Government Scholarships is contingent on whether the applications are made from abroad or while in Japan.

1. Selection from Applications abroad
A. Recommendations by Diplomatic Missions Abroad
Apply through Japanese Diplomatic Missions in applicable countries of which applicants are nationals. Only research students are accepted at Hosei University.
B. Recommendations made by universities abroad
Apply through universities with whom exchange agreements are already in force.
2. Selection from Applications within Japan
Apply through universities in Japan where the international student is already enrolled.
