”Program Outline

The faculty of Computer and Information Sciences was established in April 2000 to advance education and research related to computers and information, and to play a leading role in the coming information society.
The Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences educates professionals in computer and information sciences who will be capable of meeting the challenge of a rapidly changing information technology, and of formulating and improving scientific principles. The 24 staff teach computer and information courses, as levels ranging from introductory to advanced, as well as related courses including mathematics, physics, and English.
The diversity of staff is one of the main features of the Faculty of Computer and Information sciences. The faculty members include five Chinese, two Russians, and one British. Most staff members have experience of studying overseas and working in companies. |

The courses of the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences are well organized on the basis of the computer and information curriculum, which is the Japanese version of the ACM curriculum and is called J97. In the first year, students attend introductory courses in computer and information sciences as well as related courses including mathematics, physics, and English. In the second year, they take basic courses in computer and information sciences as well as social and cultural sciences that help them to understand the coming information society. In the third year, advanced courses in computer and information sciences are taught. In the fourth year, students mostly devote themselves to their graduation these.
