| Hosei University Open to the World |

Hosei University was established in 1880, as Tokyo Hogakusha, giving it one of the longest histories and traditions of any universities in Japan. A little more than 120 years later the university has greatly contributed to society by producing large numbers of valuable personnel under the founding spirit of "freedom and progress".
In today's society globalization continues to progress at a rapid pace and a variety of problems are appearing political, economical, cultural and various other fronts which affect not just individual nations but all the countries of the world. International dialogs and cooperation based on mutual understanding and a spirit of tolerance are essential to resolve these problems.

Our university is at present, in addition to deploying international education programs university-wide, concluding agreements with universities and research institutions from countries all over the world, and building an extensive knowledge network, is making great strides in continuing the globalization of education and research through the exchange of large numbers of international students and researchers.
In addition, the university hopes to continue cultivating internationally minded people who look at the world stage from a self-sustaining, global point of view without regard for race or nationality, actively engage in activities, are able to solve problems and have the potential to become the true leaders of the 21st century.
