Training Program for Senior Officials of Vietnam’s State Anti-Corruption Organ was held at Hosei University

December 10, 2014

For four days from Monday, October 6 through Wednesday, 8 and Friday, October 10, various lectures concerning the government and countermeasures against corruption in Japan were given at Hosei University to Vietnam’s mission consisting of 19 senior and middle officials (including 2 members from Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs) sent by the State Organ of the Central Commission for Internal Affairs (CCIA).

The lectures were delivered as a part of training program titled “Anti-Corruption Policy and Practice in the Public Sector in Japan,” held from Sunday, October 5 to Tuesday, 14, at which Toru Sakane, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at the university, took the lead in conducting the program based on CCIA’s request. In addition to the above-mentioned lectures, special visiting sessions to Japan’s state institutions and organs concerned (e.g. the Supreme Public Prosecutors Office, National Personnel Authority, Judge Indictment Committee, and UN Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI)) were also incorporated into the program, which were designed to enable multilateral learning about Japan’s anti-corruption policies and efforts to date. The program appeared to provide highly meaningful training for the members of the mission lead by Le Minh Tri, Vice Chairman of CCIA.

Hosei University intends to continue promoting various kinds of educational, research and social contribution activities that foster globalization, including individual international contributions such as this case, which are requested based on the network that an individual academic scholar has formed through his/her research activities.
