Professor Toshiyuki Nagata, of the Plant Clinical Science Course, Department of Frontier Bioscience, received the Ig Nobel Prize.

On September 12, Professor Toshiyuki Nagata, of the Plant Clinical Science Course, Department of Frontier Bioscience, received the Ig Nobel Prize at the Sanders Theatre of Harvard University.

Serving as Professor, Graduate School of Science, the University of Tokyo and Director of the Botanical Gardens of the said university, Professor Toshiyuki Nagata has been a Professor at Hosei University since 2008. He specializes in the fields of cultivated plant botany, cellular engineering, plant physiology and plant molecular biology. His major achievements include the regeneration of plants from protoplasts and the plant cell culture of model plants.
